The Himalayan Languages Symposium is an annually convening, open scholarly forum for scholars of Himalayan languages. Contributions are welcome on any language of the greater Himalayan region. In addition to linguistic presentations, contributions are also welcome from related disciplines such as history, anthropology, archaeology and prehistory. The forum is secular and scholarly and not open to political or religious contributions.
HLS-27 was held at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati from June 12th to June 14th, 2024.
HLS-26 was held at INALCO’s Maison de la Recherche from September 4th to September 6th, 2023.
HLS-25 was held at the University of Sydney from June 24th to June 20th, 2019.
The University of Oregon Department of Linguistics is pleased to host the 28th Himalayan Languages Symposium, in Eugene, OR, USA. The city of Eugene, located at the southern end of the Willamette River Valley, is home to around 170,000 people and to the University of Oregon. Surrounded by picturesque natural attractions, it also hosts several museums specializing in the cultural and natural history of the Pacific Northwest.
